Dear friends,
I’m writing from Maputo, Mozambique where I have been ministering for the past two weeks. I have been here a number of times and have been helping with a Bible school that was established eight years ago. I haven’t been here since the pandemic, during which the school was suspended. This year they began again and it fit into my time ministering in Angola to come here for these two+ weeks.
Every day has been full of ministry and the people seem to just not get enough of the Word. The other day, as I looked out over the congregation, I couldn’t help think of the city Berea where Paul went to after leaving Thessalonica. Paul wrote: “Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.” (Acts 17:11) It goes to report that a number of Greek women of high standing believed as well as men. As I observed those present I counted 2 judges, 4 medical doctors, a lawyer and a coronel in the army. History repeating itself. It was also so satisfying to see the church we helped plant seven years ago doing so well and with plans to build a new building.
On the 25th, I return to Angola where I will be ministering in a nation-wide conference of the MER (Evangelical Reconciliation Mission), in Luanda and then will travel to Malange, which is in the center of the country for the graduation of a Bible school. We were in Luanda the first week of July for another graduation, which is a much bigger school than the one in the province. There we graduated 234 second year students and 34 pastoral level students in their four year program. Quite an amazing time, as the graduation filled the largest conference center in the city. Helen was with me for this week, but then had to return home when I went on to Mozambique.
I arrived home on the 5th of August and then on the 7th, Helen and I are off to Sweden to minister in a Family Camp organized by the New Life Churches. Keep us in your prayers as we are about the Lord’s business. We will be in the States the month of September and hope to see some of you then.
