Dear friends,
Before I head off to Southeast Asia, I want to give you all an update on our recent ministry trip into Morocco. This trip was quite significant and went so well that I can only deduce from it that we were well covered in prayer. Thank you so much for praying for us. It really made a difference.
There were just three of us on this trip and yet we were able to accomplish all that God had for us. We traveled down the Western coast of Morocco, starting with Casablanca. Our main focus for prayer were in the cities of El Jadida, Safi, Essoueira and Casablanca. God had given us specific prayer/declarations for each of these cities and we sensed angelic protection as we were there. In Essoueira,, we met with a local pastor who oversees a number of house churches and we were able to encourage him and sow into his ministry. He is quite an influencer via his podcasts which touches thousands of Arab and Berber speaking people all over North Africa and Europe. We just praise the Lord that we were able to be of help to this front-line influencer. We partner with other leaders in the country, but this time we felt we should dedicate our time to this pastor.
When we were in Casablanca, we felt so exhausted and perceived that it was spiritual in nature. A couple of weeks prior to our arriving; several major cities, especially Casa, were the scene of violent demonstrations against the government. We could still sense the tension in the air. The revolt began peacefully by Gen-Z, as they were protesting for better health and education services, but was invaded by radical Muslims and the demonstrations turned violent. The police came down heavily on these youths and they calmed down, but you could sense that it could break out again at any time. This is the third time this year that I have been in an African nation where this has happened.
Another high-light was that we were able to meet and pray with a Latin American ambassador’s family that are now stationed in Morocco and have responsibility over several other African nations. They were so keen spiritually and have a heart to be a blessing and influence for the Kingdom of God while serving in this nation. (You know, I must be vague as to names)
Our next trip is scheduled for the first week of May. Let me know if you want to join us.
For over 35 years, we have been going into Morocco, (at least once a year). There is power in dedication and perseverance. We are seeing a difference in the people’s responsiveness to the Gospel and their growing curiosity of spiritual reality. Let us pray to the Lord of the Harvest to send in more laborers into this harvest field.
Keep Morocco in your prayers,
Jim and Helen
