Dear Friends and Family,
After a quick and complete recovery from prostate cancer, we are back on the road. We want to thank all of you, our friends and family, for the support we received as we went through this “bump in the road”. By God’s grace, it is over, and my strength has returned. During the three-month recovery time, I was able to write a 12-booklet series on Church life. Also, I was able to finish another two devotional books, (in Portuguese). This material has been “hitting the mark” in helping believers get through the challenges of being the Body of Christ within the post-modern culture in which we live. Soon I will begin another series on Spiritual Warfare; a subject I have been called on to minister about over the past few years.
Our first trip this year was to Mozambique, ESwatini and South Africa. It was Helen’s first time to go to Mozambique, even though she was raised just an hour or so away. We worked, primarily, in the Bible school, but also in giving oversight to new church plants. While we were there, a cyclone wreaked havoc in the central part of the country and another one a few weeks later in the North. Roads were cut and communication was out for a number of days, but we were able to help get aid to this area. From Maputo, the capitol of Mozambique, we drove to Manzini, ESwatini, (former Swaziland). There we celebrated with New Hope Centre their 15th anniversary. What a joy to see all that the Lord has done with these precious lives. Of the 60+ children that have been helped by the Elizabeth Hynd and her team, many have now gone on to universities, jobs and ministries. Two of the girls will be with us in Portugal, the first two weeks of September, to minister and encourage the Church there.
We were home the first couple of weeks in April, to celebrate Easter with family and our local church, and then we were off to Germany for a couple weeks of ministry. The church in Augsburg is doing so well and it is always a joy to sow into all that God is doing there. One highlight for us was to minister to a group of Iranian refugees. While I was speaking, the meeting was being transmitted live to an underground home church in Tehran. To see their joy in receiving the Word was really touching. We were home two weeks in May then off on a six-week road trip around Europe. It is hard to give you all the details. So much has happened. We were able to visit places where we have ministered in the past and a number of new places, especially in Jersey and England. We arrived back home on the 2nd of July and then on the 12th I left for Luanda, Angola, where I am at present. Helen stayed home to catch up with things at home and to paint one more of her ethnic beauties’ portraits.
While we were away from the home front, Seth was able to find a permanent place for our local church, Logos, to meet. It is a 1000 m2 warehouse, next to the airport. It is a good location with easy access off the main circular road. It requires quite an investment in remodeling, but the rent is much cheaper than anything we have been able to find to date. I am sending you a link that Seth prepared to let you see this faith project. https://youtu.be/RHgmS-92ZlA If any of you feel led to contribute toward this project, you can do so via S.I.M., www.simissions.org , if you are in the States, or directly to the church in Lisbon. www.logoscc.org Let me know, so I can send you the bank information. God has been using Seth and Silvia in a wonderful way to bring unity in the Body of Christ, here in Portugal, and to call the Church to revival. We are so proud of all that God is doing through them and in the Logos family.
Pray for me while I am here in Angola and for Helen while she is at home. Our desire is that we will be fruitful in all we do and that the Lord receives all the glory. This Fall we will be in Sweden and Germany and then to America from the middle of November to the first of the year.
Thank you for all your prayers and encouragement.
Be blessed Jim and Helen Reimer
