Dear Friends and Family,
Since the first of the year, our lives have changed dramatically. On the 8th of January, we passed the torch of pastoring the Logos church here in Lisbon, to our son Seth and his wife, Silvia. The transition has gone well and the church is doing well. It has been quite an adjustment for us, yet so fulfilling to see our children following us in the ministry. We have sensed that the Lord had this change in mind for some time and have been preparing for it. In these first six months of the year many doors have opened for us to minister in various nations. We have been to Colombia, Germany, Spain, Angola and Mozambique. Next week, we are ministering in Belgium and then to the U.S.A. for three months. As you can see, we are not in retirement, but rather re-firement.
Our heart is to open doors in nations that are unreached and to train the indigenous believers for the work of the local ministry and for missions. We have seen fruit of this thrust of ministry over the years in Angola, and now a large door has opened for us in Mozambique. In February 2018, we will begin an apostolic mission school in Maputo. We will be training local leaders in cross-cultural evangelism and church planting. The Northern half of Mozambique is predominately Muslim and needs well equipped, bold, Spirit-filled workers to push back the darkness. Since this school will bring us back to Africa several times next year, we will use this new base to reach into other neighboring nations.
We have been simplifying our life here at home to facilitate our travel schedule. Helen gave away here plants and I have placed our bills on a direct payment plan. We don’t have any pets to worry about and so we can be flexible to go whenever and wherever the Lord indicates. We have joined the Sara and Abraham Club.
To follow us on our travels, you can go to our site: www.simissions.org. We need your prayers as we cross borders and time lines, eat a variety of foods, entering malaria and cholera infested areas and ministering to people of varied traditional and theological persuasions. Prayer makes all the difference. As I look back over the many years of ministry in over 60 nations, (without ever getting sick), I praise the Lord and attribute it all to GRACE. God has called us to the nations and has fulfilled His promises to us all along the way.
Helen has continued to paint as she finds the time. You must see her latest portrait. It is her best yet. Go to: www.fineartbyhelenreimer.com. We are selling prints of each of her paintings. I just printed the first of seven devotional books. (in Portuguese), and am having my book, Let It Go, translated in Russian. My desire is to have all my books in at least Portuguese and English, (and other languages as possible). I am also rewriting all our manuals for the mission school. This is an expensive and time-consuming project, but so needed as a follow-up to our ministry in the nations. As I have traveled, I have found the pastors and spiritual leaders in the churches to be poorly prepared to do what they are doing. As a result, many fall into heresies and syncretism in their beliefs and practices. We must invest in training the untrained and reaching the unreached.
We ask you to help hold our up hands as we are in the nations. Your prayers and giving are essential to complete the assignment that God as given us to do.
Our going is your going. We are a Body that works together with Christ as the Head. We hope to see many of you this summer. If we have not contacted you, send us a note on the social media available and let’s try to connect.
You are always in our heart
Jim and Helen Reimer
